These #2 tapersawn shingles are mostly vertical grain and are 100% old growth and 100% heartwood. They are sawn with an extra thick 5/8″ butt and are 18″ long. No defects are allowed in the #2 grade on the bottom nine inches of the shingle, which means they will look just like #1 grade once installed…except at less than half the price of #1 grade ! Seven bundles will cover 100 SF at 5.5″ exposure. Five bundles will cover 100 SF at 7.5″ exposure. Alaskan Yellow Cedar is highly decay resistant (more so than Western Red Cedar) and within a few months weathers naturally to a silvery gray as shown in the photos below.
