Siding Products, Residential Sidings

Wood siding has been a popular choice for homes for centuries because of its unbeatable durability and beauty. You'll see a lot of classic older houses with wood siding that's still gorgeous because it's been well taken care of by the homeowners. With proper maintenance, exterior wood siding easily outlasts vinyl siding. (You'll also see all the non-wood siding products imitating the look of real wood anyway, so why not go with the genuine article?)

Wood siding can also be stained as opposed to painting the house. This gives you more choices when you're deciding on a look for your home. Staining also helps the wood to retain visible and distinctive grain patterning while painting covers it completely.

We offer a wide variety of different siding species and accessories, including Eastern White Pine siding, Western Red Cedar shingles, White Cedar Shingles, Alaskan Yellow Cedar Shingles, Primed 1/2x6 Western Spruce Clapboards, and Western Red Cedar wavy edge skirl siding. Come down and to take a look at these beauties for yourself!

Western Red Cedar Tapersawn Siding

Western Red Cedar Shingles, 18” #3 Western Red Cedar Tapersawn Shingles

If the price of red cedar these days scares you, Uncle Hilde’s has the solution. These tapersawns are nearly 100% heartwood and are sawn with an extra thick 5/8” butt. Knots are allowed in the #3 grade. Typically only a small percentage of the pieces will have unsound defects in the exposed part of the shingle. Seven bundles will cover 100 SF at 5.5” exposure.

Western Red Cedar Skirl Siding

Western Red Cedar 7/8x8 STK (Sound Tight Knot) Wavy Edge Skirl Siding, Western Red Cedar Skirl Siding

Manufactured to simulate “live edge” clapboards found on many of New Hampshire’s old camps. Uncle Hilde’s is the only stocking dealer of this product in New England. Kiln Dried. Other sizes available through special order.

Paulownia Primed Siding

Western Spruce Clapboards

Primed 1/2x6 siding, easy to work with. The Oil-Based Primer on all sides means it's ready to topcoat right away.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar

We now carry #3 Taper Sawn Alaskan Yellow Cedar shakes for sidewall applications. These tapersawns are nearly 100% heartwood, with very few knots and an extra thick 5/8" butt. Seven bundles will cover 100 SF at 5.5” exposure.

We also carry Alaskan Yellow Cedar shingles in a #1 Fivex. These shingles have a 3/8" butt thickness and are 16" long. They are Kiln Dried, Clear All Heartwood & 100% Vertical Grain with very wide widths - up to 12" ! They are not R&R (resquared and rebutted). 4 bundles will cover 100 SF @ 5" exposure (thus the name “Fivex”)

Alaskan Yellow Cedar has a higher decay resistance than Western Red Cedar and yet the Fivex shingles are about $20/bundle cheaper than Eastern White Cedar Xtra Clears! It weathers to a beautiful silvery gray – there’s no need to finish although this species will easily accept a stain.
