A Shiny New Tandem Trike for Students at Spaulding Youth Center Donated by Uncle Hilde’s Lumber Outlet
Northfield, NH – The freedom to ride – what a feeling! Students at Spaulding Youth Center with mobility
impairments are enjoying the outdoors on a side-by-side tandem trike generously donated by Uncle Hilde’s Lumber
Outlet of Tilton and Merrimack. The sleek and comfy two-seater with an easy dual pedal mechanism not only thrills
its young riders but also provides another avenue for building lower body strength and developing skills such as
coordination and balance.
Owner of Uncle Hilde’s Mark Hildebrand commented, "Uncle Hilde's is very proud to be a
continuing supporter of Spaulding Youth Center -- a tremendous local educational facility dedicated to helping children
with challenges. We hope this tandem trike brings smiles to the faces of countless kids in years to come." Expressing her
thanks on behalf of the entire organization, CEO and President of Spaulding Susan Calegari commented, “We are very grateful to
have such a wonderful community partner as Uncle Hilde’s supporting programs that are not afforded through public funds. Imagine a
child experiencing his first trike ride and eventually progressing to a two-wheeler. It certainly puts a smile on a child’s face and mine.”
Uncle Hilde’s previously provided the construction and installation of several elements for Spaulding Youth Center’s on-campus outdoor challenge
course which is also available to youth and school groups through Spaulding’s community outreach program and to businesses interested in corporate
team building activities. Spaulding Youth Center, located in Northfield, New Hampshire, offers therapeutic residential, educational and foster care services to youth with autism or
neurological impairments, boys with emotional and behavioral challenges, and children of all ages in need of foster care. For more information about Spaulding
